Prof. Dr. Heinz von Seggern

Affiliation: Technical University Darmstadt

Personal CV: Heinz von Seggern studied physics at the University of Goettingen and Hannover in the field of solid state physics where he graduated in 1976. He received his PhD degree from Technical University of Darmstadt in 1979 on Charge Transport in Teflon, then became Postdoc and later principal investigator at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill, NJ, USA. In 1982 his work was honored by the Academy of Science of Goettingen through the Physics Prize. In 1985 he accepted a position as principal investigator at Siemens Research Center in Erlangen where in 1990 he was promoted to department head. In 1997 he was appointed to full professor in Materials Science at the Technical University of Darmstadt. His scientific interests are directed toward electrical properties of dielectrics, transport processes in organic electronics (OFET, OLED) and towards the physics of medical x-ray imaging based on photo-stimulated luminescence. Since his retirement in 2014 he mainly concentrates on ferroelectrets and their application in sensors and energy harvesters. According to Google Scholar he has published more than 360 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals with a total number of citations of more than 9000 and an h-index of 49.
